Moose Wala, 28, was shot dead by unidentified assailants on Sunday, a day after the Punjab government downgraded his security cover.
According to the ritual, if a man dies young and unmarried, he is dressed as a groom at the funeral.
Sehra and dastaar - headgears worn by a groom before leaving for the bride’s home - adorned his head. Moose Wala was reportedly engaged to be married later this year.
Heart-wrenching visuals showed an inconsolable Balkaur Singh fixing his son’s moustache before the final send off.

As Moose Wala’s body was brought to the fields for his cremation, the distraught father took off his turban, helpless and in pain from losing his only child.
The police, who linked the murder to an inter-gang rivalry, made the first arrest in the case just hours after the singer was cremated. Canada-based gangster Goldi Brar, allegedly closely associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, had claimed the attack on Sunday.
