Shura Council approves number of draft laws

Doha: The Shura Council held its regular weekly meeting on Monday, under the chairmanship of HE the Speaker Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, via video conference at the Council's headquarters.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Council welcomed the State of Qatars hosting of the Office of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Program on Parliamentary Participation in Preventing and Combating Terrorism, in accordance with the memorandum of understanding and agreement signed between the Shura Council and the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office to establish this office in the State of Qatar, which cover all parliaments of the world, amid wide international participation in the opening ceremony and a regional and international welcome for the start of the office's work, which is the first of its kind in the region and the world. The Council stressed that the opening of this office in Doha reflects the extent to which the international community appreciates the efforts of the State of Qatar under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, in combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
