Police say shots were fired in the direction of tactical unit officers Thursday as they were executing a search warrant at a residence in the east Calgary community of Penbrooke Meadows.
The situation, which began around 3:30 p.m., is ongoing and police are asking nearby residents to shelter in place. Calgarians are also being asked to avoid the area.
The residence is located in the 300 block of Penswood Way S.E.
Police report that there were no injuries as of around 5 p.m.
"We currently have multiple police resources on scene and have contained the suspect residence," police said in statement on social media.
"We are asking nearby residents to shelter in place and take direction from officers on scene."
Police request people do not share the location of officers on the scene on social media. They say they'll update the public on social media as things develop.
