Shoaib Akhtar on IPL 2021 suspension: International cricket can take place in a bubble, not franchise cricket

Shoaib Akhtar said that playing franchise cricket like the IPL in a bio-bubble amid the raging second wave of the Covid-19 in India was never going to be possible for the BCCI to pull off.

The Indian cricket board indefinitely postponed the IPL 2021 after 4 cases of players testing positive for Covid-19 were confirmed on May 3 and 4. Chennai Super Kings bowling and batting coaches L Balaji and Michael Hussey also contracted the virus along with a bus cleaner earlier this week.
