Shiv Sena MLA threatens confrontation with comedian Kunal Kamra over alleged remarks against Maharashtra Deputy CM.
Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel said that the party would confront stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra - who is facing a police case over his alleged “traitor” remark against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde - whenever he visits Mumbai.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Patel, whose complaint led to an FIR against Mr. Kamra, said the comedian had ignored repeated summons from the Mumbai police. “He is still not coming to Mumbai. He is running outside the State. Though he has secured anticipatory bail from the Madras High Court, we will certainly seek an answer from him when he arrives,” Mr. Patel said.

The FIR was registered at Khar police station under sections 353(1)(b) (public mischief) and 356(2) (defamation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, based on Mr. Kamra’s remarks during his stand-up show ‘Naya Bharat’, uploaded on YouTube last month.
Mr. Kamra has not appeared for questioning despite three summons, citing death threats and requesting to be questioned via video conference.
The Bombay High Court on Tuesday issued notices to both Mumbai police and Mr. Patel while agreeing to hear Mr. Kamra’s plea challenging the FIR on April 16. Meanwhile, the Madras High Court has extended his interim anticipatory bail until April 17.
Known for his political satire, Mr. Kamra remains at the centre of a legal and political standoff that continues to draw national attention.
