Shiromani Akali Dal has asked Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann to stop mocking school education.
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for trying to impose the Delhi government’s education model on Punjab and asked chief minister Bhagwant Mann to stop mocking Punjab schools following the release of the National Achievement Survey (NAS)-2021 which has ranked Punjab students ahead of Delhi at all levels.
Asking the chief minister to congratulate government school children of Punjab and seek an apology for defaming them, SAD spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema said students of Punjab had fared better than their counterparts in Delhi in the survey that evaluated the education quality and overall health of the education system in the country.
“It is now clear that the much-hyped Delhi model of education which was used as a propaganda tool by AAP in Punjab and the rest of the country is a complete failure. Bhagwant Mann should acknowledge this fact and not try to impose it on Punjabis. He should work to strengthen the current Punjab Model which had given good dividends to the state in the national survey,” he said.
Cheema said school children from Punjab had fared better than their counterparts in Delhi right from Class 3, Class 5, Class 8 to Class 10.

He said Punjab students stood first in comprehending Mathematics, second in the case of social sciences, and third in English.
“We must build on this achievement by developing both short and long-term interventions to improve learning levels further as per the findings of the independent survey conducted by the Union education ministry. The CM should now reject the Delhi Model of school education firmly. Not doing so would amount to betraying the interests of Punjab and Punjabis,” the SAD leader said.
