Sharad Kelkar on Tanhaji's win at 68th National Awards, says 'I had full faith in the film' | Exclusive

Sharad Kelkar is happy after Tanhaji's big win at the National Awards. In an exclusive chat with IndiaToday.in, the actor said that he had full faith in the film.

It was a big day for the Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior team as the film won three big awards at the 68th National Awards on Friday, July 22. While Ajay Devgn bagged the award for Best Actor, director Om Raut won for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. The film has also won Best Costume. Speaking about the film's big win, actor Sharad Kelkar, who played the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the film, shared his excitement.

Speaking exclusively with IndiaToday.in, Sharad shared, "I am very happy for all of us who were part of the film and Om (director). It's a big honor for all of us. It's always a feather in the cap being a part of such a wonderful film. Just not the Box Office but critically also it's been awarded so really, really happy. It's time to celebrate. I will call Om directly and plan a celebration for all of us."

Further talking about Tanhaji, The Family Man actor said, "I had full faith in the film because the kind of planning Om had, the vision that he had while narrating the film, and the shooting pattern was something we did in the Hindi film industry for the first time. It was something unique and we were all very sure and a little excited about it. We did something new, and that too in such a massive way. Om is a visionary, he is a fantastic director, and has a great sense of filmmaking and scripts. Also, he understands actors and I think all these things made him a very good director. It was a pleasure working with it him and looking forward again to working with him."

Tanhaji is Ajay Devgn's third National Award. Sharad, who has worked with Ajay in a few films before, calls him a fantastic actor. "Ajay is the best, he is the coolest man. This was my third or fourth film with him and he has always been an inspiration. He is always been a very down-to-earth person and very raw in his approach towards the films. He has a great sense of films and has great knowledge about every aspect of filmmaking which helps the film. He is a fantastic actor and he also has a great sense of filmmaking and what films are, how it has to be made, and what is required. I just love him for his craft and his knowledge. Ajay is one of the best we have."
