Swift has previously described Twain as "the reason I wanted to do [country music] in the first place"
As Taylor Swift gears up for her next era, she’s garnering some renewed praise from longtime pal Shania Twain.
Speaking to Haute Living, Twain reflected on her personal experiences as a country-pop crossover artist, and commended Swift for both her musicality and her drive.
“That girl is working her butt off,” Twain told the publication in an interview, published Wednesday. “She is living an exhausting existence, but she’d dedicated and committed to herself, to her art, and her work. It isn’t even about ambition, though I’m sure that most people would call her ambitious.”
The five-time Grammy winner went on to note: “She’s an extremely hard worker, and I’m sure she’s got giant goals. But it’s not all about ambition: it’s about passion and committing yourself to your passion.”
Swift and Twain have crossed paths several times, including during the 2019 American Music Awards. In 2008, after the two were introduced at the Country Music Association Awards, Swift described the “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” singer as “the reason I wanted to do this in the first place.”
