Ranbir Kapoor's Shamshera is a total dud at the box office. It is hardly minting any money!
Ranbir Kapoor's rugged and ripped avatar in Shamshera was hailed by all. However, the story seems to have unimpress the audience, and it is quite evident in its box office numbers which keeps dwindling daily. Ranbir returned to films after four years with Shamshera, which hit the theatres on July 22. Ranbir plays a double role in this action drama about an enslaved tribe fighting for freedom. Also starring Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor, Shamshera is having a hard time surviving in the theatres. The film released with a low opening, and its numbers keep dissapointing each day.
Shamshera is a total dud at the box office. The film had earned a mere Rs 0.7 crore at the box office on Day 12. And on Day 13, it hardly managed to mint any money. On Day 14 as well, the film managed to earn hardly Rs 0.3 crore. This marks Ranbir Kapoor's 7th flop film. Shamshera is struggling to breach the Rs 50-crore mark. The Ranbir Kapoor-starrer is receiving competition from Ek Villian Returns. It will soon be wiped out in the theatres with new releases like Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan.
The storyline of Shamshera follows Ranbir Kapoor's character being pitted against Sanjay Dutt's character. The latter plays the role of an evil, merciless and cold-hearted man named Shuddh Singh. The film is set in the 1800 fictitious city of Kaza, where a warrior tribe is imprisoned, enslaved and tortured by a ruthless authoritarian general Shuddh Singh. The story focusses on a slave who becomes a leader and then a legend for his tribe. He relentlessly fights for his tribe's freedom and dignity. Shamshera also stars Ronit Roy, Saurabh Shukla and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles.
