Shamshera is a flop at the box office. The film earned a mere Rs 0.7 crore at the box office on Day 12. This marks Ranbir Kapoor's 7th flop film. The film has received mixed responses, but the box office performance has been average throughout.
Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt-starrer Shamshera has done below-average business at the box office. The film has received negative responses from all over and has been declared a flop. On Tuesday, the film could only manage to earn Rs .70 crore. In 12 days Shamshera failed to even breach the Rs 50 crore mark.
The Ranbir-starrer is receiving competition from Ek Villian Returns.
The storyline of Shamshera follows Ranbir Kapoor's character being pitted against Sanjay Dutt's character. The latter plays the role of an evil, merciless and cold-hearted man named Shuddh Singh. The film is set in the 1800 fictitious city of Kaza, where a warrior tribe is imprisoned, enslaved and tortured by a ruthless authoritarian general Shuddh Singh. The story focusses on a slave who becomes a leader and then a legend for his tribe. He relentlessly fights for his tribe's freedom and dignity. Shamshera also stars Ronit Roy, Saurabh Shukla and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles.
