Shaivite seers staged a protest in Tamil Nadu's Chidambaram demanding action against a YouTuber for his alleged derogatory remarks on Lord Nataraja.
Hundreds of devotees gathered in Tamil Nadu's Chidambaram to join a protest led by Shaivite seers demanding action against a YouTuber for his alleged derogatory remarks on Lord Nataraja.
The YouTuber ‘Minor’ Vijay had reportedly uploaded a video mocking Thillai Nataraja, the Hindu deity, in a derogatory manner on his YouTube channel ‘U2 Brutus’.
Vijay had allegedly mocked Lord Nataraja and Lord Kali’s cosmic dance about which several complaints were filed against him. As no action was taken, Sivanadiyar, a group of Shaivite monks, held a protest on Monday.
Damodara Swamigal, President of Sivanadiyar Coordination Committee, criticised the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government for not taking action against Vijay.
“For the first time, we’ve come to the street to protest. 'Minor' Vijay who doesn’t realise the Thandalam of Thillai Natarajar, has mocked it in a derogatory manner. This protest is not just against him but also for those who think like him and for the Dravidar Kazhagam men who refuse to believe in God,” Swamigal said.
