Taapsee Pannu's film Shabaash Mithu continues to witness a poor collection on Day 2 of its release. The film was directed by Srijit Mukherji.
Taapsee Pannu plays the role of former Indian women's cricket team captain, Mithali Raj, in Shabaash Mithu. The biopic opened to good reviews. However, the reviews have failed to pull more audiences to the theatres. After a dismissal on the first day of collection, the movie's dry run doesn't seem to end.
Shabaash Mithu had a poor day 1 with the opening day collection standing around Rs 0.40 crores. On Day 2, the film picked up by a margin and collected between Rs 0.60-0.65 crores, taking the total collection to touch the Rs. 1 crore mark. Shabaash Mithu was released along with Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra's starrer Hit: The First Case. While the Rajkummar Rao film showed a jump on day 2, Taapsee's stellar performance failed to draw people to the cinema halls.
The film was made on a relatively low budget when compared to the latest sports film released '83.
Meanwhile, for the film, Taapsee Pannu had to undergo rigorous training to look the part. She delivers a noteworthy performance as Mithali. In an earlier interview, Taapsee mentioned that she took inspiration from Shah Rukh Khan in Chak De to motivate herself during the shoot for Shabaash Mithu.
Shabaash Mithu was directed by filmmaker Srijit Mukherji and written by Priya Aven. The biopic is a coming-of-age story of women's cricket in India through the lenses of Mithali.
On the work front, Taapsee also has Dunki coming up with Shah Rukh Khan. This will mark her first association with King Khan.
