The Centre sought a report from the West Bengal government on post-poll violence in the state. Political workers were allegedly targeted by opponents since the announcement of results for the Bengal Assembly where the ruling Trinamool Congress emerged victorious. The BJP has claimed several of its party workers have been killed and over 4,000 houses ransacked in incidents of post-poll violence.

A clash had broken out between the TMC and the BJP in West Bengal's Purba Bardhaman district after the election results were announced, an official said on Monday. Similar reports of violence were received from multiple parts of the state. Multiple reports of post-poll violence and arson from various parts of West Bengal on Monday prompted the Union home ministry to seek a report from the Bengal government on incidents of attack on opposition workers.More Related News
