Broadway is finally coming back, after going dark last year to prevent the spread of Covid-19 -- and a bulk of new plays, such as "Pass Over" and "Chicken & Biscuits" are by Black writers. Some believe this has potential to lead to sustained change in the industry.
More than a year into a global pandemic and amid an international social justice movement, Broadway, it seems, is changing. Seven new plays -- which do not include musicals -- joining this fall's lineup are written by Black playwrights. It's a significant moment, one that feels spurred by the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020, and the ongoing racial reconciliation happening in so many areas of our culture.More Related News
