Sensex Tops 60,000 For First Time, Nifty Above 17,900 Led By Infosys

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 358 crore on Thursday while domestic institutional investors bought shares worth Rs 1,173 crore.
The Indian equity benchmarks surged to new all-time highs on Friday wherein the BSE benchmark index - S&P BSE Sensex crossed 60,000-mark for the first time and Nifty moved above its important psychological level of 17,900 led by gains in Infosys and Reliance Industries amid positive global cues.
Overnight, world stock markets rallied on Thursday and the U.S. dollar retreated from one-month highs as worries faded about contagion from China Evergrande and as investors digested the Federal Reserve's plans for reining in U.S. stimulus.
