P.K. Kurien, former News Editor of The Hindu in Hyderabad, passes away after 40 years in journalism.
P.K. Kurien, former News Editor of The Hindu in Hyderabad, passed away on Thursday (February 27, 2025) morning after ailing for sometime.
He belongs to the Padachira Family of Pathamuttom in Kottayam District and was a very active journalist and writer with more than 40 years of experience in prestigious newspapers like The Tribune, Patriot, Newstime and The Hindu.
He recently wrote a book called “Syrian Christians of Hyderabad” and shared a great friendship with the former Chief Minister of Kerala, Oommen Chandy, who was his classmate in St. Berchman’s College.
Being a Founding member of the Syrian Christian Church in Hyderabad, he was instrumental in handling various positions like Secretary, Diocesan Council Member of Bangalore Diocese, and Governing Body Member of St Mary’s School.
He is married to Dr. Lizzy Kurien, who retired as Nursing Superintendent of Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad. Mr. Kurien is survived by two children, Kingsley and Klinza. His funeral will be held on Saturday in Trinulgherry, according to family members.
