Senior journalist Anil Kumar of Telangana Today passes away at 55 after suffering a heart attack in Gokarna.
Senior journalist Anil Kumar, who is presently working with Telangana Today, passed away late last night. He was 55.
Anil was on a holiday with his wife Asha and daughter Rashmi to Gokarna in Karnataka. He suffered a heart attack while returning after darshan at the Shri Murudeshwara Temple and passed away at a nearby hospital.
Mr. Anil Kumar, an alumnus of the Department of Communication and Journalism, Osmania University, worked with different publications in Hyderabad and in Warangal. He was with The New Indian Express for six years and earlier served as Bureau in-charge with Swatantra Vartha.
He started his career as a reporter with News Time in 1994, and had stints with TNIE, Chennai, AP Times and the Daily Hindi Milap as well in Hyderabad.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed shock over the untimely demise and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, former Minister T. Harish Rao and BJP leaders expressed their sorrow.
Bengaluru south resident Sachin Rai remembers a time when the area around what is today Bannerghatta Road had lush green agricultural fields with ragi and groundnut crops aplenty. “I remember farmers complaining about elephants entering the fields and destroying the crops. The herds would later retreat to Bannerghatta, Anekal forest areas,” he recalled, describing it as a phenomenon that persisted till as late as the turn of the century.
