Speaking to the press on December 31, chief selector Chetan Sharma said that everyone in the selection meeting for the T20 World Cup was surprised when Virat Kohli said he would quit as India's T20I captain. He added that everyone urged the then skipper to reconsider his decision.
Chairman of the senior national team's selection committee, Chetan Sharma on Friday, December 31, clarified his stance on the raging controversy surrounding Virat Kohli's decision to quit T20I captaincy, saying everyone in the selection meeting had informed the then skipper to continue in the top job.
Chetan Sharma's comments came after he announced India's 18-man squad for the 3-match ODI series against South Africa, starting January 19.
