Ahead of the protest call given by farmers’ unions for September 7, the administration in Haryana’s Karnal on Monday issued prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in the district banning large gatherings. The farmers’ unions have planned a rally in Karnal to protest the August 28 lathicharge on farmers. The police had used force against the protesting farmers on the day Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was scheduled to attend a BJP meeting in Karnal. The farmers had gathered at Bastara toll plaza near Karnal to protest the chief minister's visit for the meeting. At least ten farmers suffered injuries in the police action.More Related News
