Villages in Gujarat are reporting a surge in Covid-19 cases. Residents of a village in Bhavnagar district say they have lost 90 people to the infection in the last 20 days.
The second wave of Covid-19 infections has penetrated India's rural pockets and the state of Gujarat is no exception. The state government has imposed a night curfew in 36 cities in a bid to break the chain of transmission and the situation in villages is no better. There is a severe shortage of doctors and medical personnel besides oxygen, ICU beds and other life-saving equipment in Gujarat’s 18,000 villages spread over 33 districts. Chogath, a village in the Bhavnagar district with a population of 13,000, has lost 90 people in the last 20 days to Covid-19.More Related News
