Russia-Ukraine war news latest updates: Over a million Ukrainian refugees have arrived in Poland through the border. India Today’s foreign affairs editor, Geeta Mohan, who reached the border on Sunday, reported that the atmosphere was a mix of tension and relief as a sea of humanity from all over Ukraine had gathered here to escape the Russian military onslaught.
As the Russia-Ukraine war enters its 12th day, more than 1.5 million refugees have fled Ukraine and crossed over into neighbouring countries. A mass exodus has been underway for over a week, and Poland has received the largest number of refugees from Ukraine.
Over a million refugees from Ukraine have arrived in Poland, said Polish border guards on Sunday, March 6. Hundreds of children, ranging from toddlers to teenagers, ran away from Ukrainian orphanages and crossed the border into Poland.
India Today’s Foreign Affairs Editor, Geeta Mohan, and the India Today team, reached Rzeszów, the largest city in the southern part of Poland. It is also the closest major city to the Ukrainian-Poland border. Here is a first-hand account of the team's experience at the border.

After reaching Rzeszów airport, the India Today team took a cab to reach the border. However, cabs were not allowed after a certain point. There was already a sea of vehicles parked nearby and people walking to the Polish-Ukrainian border.
The cab stopped before the border and the team had to cover the rest of the distance on foot. They walked to the border with their luggage, backpacks and equipment.
