Schumer says working with Susan Collins under Obama was 'mistake' by Dems, chief of staff Ron Klain retweets

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said Tuesday it was a "mistake" for Democrats to work with Sen. Susan Collins during the early Obama years and that President Biden didn't think Republicans "were being serious" in coronavirus relief negotiations.
"No, you know, we made a big mistake in 2009 and 2010," Schumer told Anderson Cooper. "Susan Collins was part of that mistake. We cut back on the stimulus dramatically and we stayed in recession for five years." Collins, R-Maine, was the leader of a GOP delegation to the White House that aimed to negotiate with Biden on what a bipartisan coronavirus plan could look like. Their opening offer would have cost $618 billion, significantly smaller than the $1.9 trillion plan that President Biden initially proposed.More Related News
