Several state governments have reopened their schools, colleges amid the decline in Covid-19 cases.
Schools reopening 2022: With a decline in the number of cases of Covid-19 across India, several state governments have reopened their educational institutions, with the necessary Covid-19 guidelines. Schools, colleges, institutions are now allowed to conduct physical classes with full or 50 percent capacities. Further, the online classes will continue without any change, and attendance is also not mandatory.
Here's the list of states and cities that have reopened their schools and colleges:
On February 7, schools in Bihar reopened for physical classes for students from classes 9 to 12 at full capacity, and with 50 percent attendance for students till class 8, keeping in mind the necessary Covid-19 SOPs issued by the State Disaster Management Authority in all schools of the state.
On February 7, the Gujarat government reopened the schools for students of classes 1 to 9. Physical classes for students studying from 1 to 9 were suspended on January 8 amid rising Covid-19 cases across the nation. However, schools were not closed for students from classes 10 to 12.
On February 7, the Delhi government also reopened its schools for students of classes 9 to 12. As per Delhi Disaster Management Authority's (DDMA) latest guidelines for Delhi school reopening, there is no cap of 50 percent student strength, and "the heads of schools shall call the students in such numbers and manner, taking into account the available space/infrastructure/facilities of their schools, so as to ensure that Covid-appropriate behaviour".
On February 7, the Odisha government also reopened its schools for students Class 7 and above. The state government also reopened its colleges, polytechnics, professional institutions, and universities for physical classes, keeping in mind the necessary Covid-19 guidelines.
On February 7, the Uttar Pradesh government reopened their schools for students from classes 9 to 12. Online classes will continue for the other classes till further notice.
