Police have charged the driver of a school bus with careless driving after the vehicle crashed into a tree in Stratford, Ont. Thursday morning.
Stratford police say the bus had been travelling south along John Street South approaching Dingman Place around 8:30 a.m. when reportedly the school bus "suddenly left the roadway and struck a tree," a release by police said on Thursday afternoon.
Police originally said the bus was carrying 12 elementary students, but changed the number to 11 in their latest statement.
All students were treated at the scene by paramedics, police say, and one was taken to hospital for neck pain. The driver suffered minor injuries.
After an investigation, police said they laid charges because they could not find any "reasonable excuse" for the driver to leave the road.

The University of Calgary's move to relocate its School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape into a 180,000 square-foot space in the former Nexen Building — an office tower that sat virtually vacant for about six years — has been lauded by many as a big step for this city's downtown revitalization.
