Bikram Majithia in the Punjab drug case, the Supreme Court has asked the police not to arrest Majithia till February 23.
In a temporary but big relief for Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Majithia in the Punjab drug case, the Supreme Court has asked the police not to arrest Majithia till February 23.
However, Majithia must surrender before the court on February 23, soon after the polling day in Punjab. Majithia was booked under the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act.
The Supreme Court order will allow Majithia to campaign for his party freely. Bikram Majithia has filed his nomination from both Amritsar East and Majitha constituencies.

Chief Justice of India NV Ramana asked the Punjab government’s lawyer to "advise the state that the impression should not go out that politically motivated cases are being filed".
The petition by Simarjeet Singh Bains, a two-time MLA from Atam Nagar (Ludhiana) and president of Lok Insaaf Party (LIP), will be heard on Tuesday.
