NMC said permission to increase student intake was cancelled over lack of operation theatres, X-RAY machines in the college
The Supreme Court on Monday came across a Bollywood movie ' Munna Bhai MBBS' moment while dealing with a case of cancellation of permission for admission of additional students in a medical college, owing to surprise inspection that found that patients in the wards were "hale and hearty” and “no serious in-patient was found in paediatric ward”.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) told the top court that permission for admission of additional students was cancelled as there were no operation theatres and no X-RAY machines in the college besides other deficiencies.

Former CM B.S. Yediyurappa had challenged the first information report registered on March 14, 2024, on the alleged incident that occurred on February 2, 2024, the chargesheet filed by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and the February 28, 2025, order of taking cognisance of offences afresh by the trial court.
