The SC allowed realty firm Unitech's founder Ramesh Chandra to seek bail in a money laundering case registered against him by the ED.
The Supreme Court on Thursday allowed former Unitech promoter Ramesh Chandra to seek bail from a special court hearing in connection with a money laundering case.
The case is being pursued by the Enforcement Directorate against the real estate giant and its promoters Ramesh Chandra and his sons Sanjay and Ajay.
The Supreme Court has also allowed Ramesh Chandra's sons to hold virtual meetings every fortnight. The Chandra brothers, who have been in jail since 2017, are accused of siphoning money from home buyers.
Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate told the court that it will file chargesheets against Ajay and Sanjay Chandra next week.
The probe agency had sought permission to respond to the report of forensic auditors Grant Thornton for preparation of the chargesheet, saying it would strengthen their case.
