Saudi Arabia invites Syrian president to Arab summit in oil-rich kingdom

Saudi Arabia invited the Syrian President Bashar Assad to attend the Arab League summit in Jeddah. No information was released regarding whether he will attend the May 19 summit.
The upcoming summit will take place in the Saudi coastal city of Jeddah on May 19.
Assad’s office published photos of Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Jordan delivering the invitation. It was not made clear whether Assad will attend the summit.
