During an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.in, Satish Kaushik revealed that Rishi Kapoor was absolutely fit and fine on their film Sharmaji Namkeen's set.
Sharmaji Namkeen was a fitting tribute to the late Rishi Kapoor considering it was his last movie. The late legendary actor's son, Ranbir Kapoor, promoted the movie along with the makers of Sharmaji Namkeen. The film opened to a good response and left the audience emotional. A few days after the release of Sharmaji Namkeen, IndiaToday.in exclusively spoke to Satish Kaushik, who revealed that Rishi Kapoor was fit and fine on their film set.
Rishi Kapoor was an integral part of Sharmaji Namkeen, but unfortunately, he passed away due to cancer on April 30, 2020. Since he couldn't complete the movie, actor Paresh Rawal shot for the remaining portions of the film.
Meanwhile, Satish Kaushik shared his experience of working with Rishi Kapoor in Sharmaji Namkeen. "Brilliant! I am going to miss him when we see the film. I and Chintuji had a warm relationship. He was always very loving to me. We will miss him. It was great working with him. When he directed his first film, I was in that movie. He directed the film Aa Ab Laut Chalen in America. And working with him also on this film was a great experience and I was very happy. Because when he came back from his illness, he was absolutely fit and fine. And I told him 'Good! Chintuji, you are back'. But we didn't know that God would snatch him away from us," the veteran actor said.
Satish Kaushik further mentioned that the makers of Sharmaji Namkeen tried a new concept in the film. He also spoke about Paresh Rawal taking up the film after Rishi Kapoor passed away.
"And to play the same role as another actor, it was great of Paresh Rawal to accept that challenge. We are going to miss Rishi ji in this film and this is going to be a special film because it is Rishi Kapoor's last film. I had the honour of performing with him in his last film," said Kaushik, on a concluding note.
