Odisha is facing one of the worst flood situations with over eight lakh people affected. Satellite images show how alarming the situation really is.
Floods have affected nearly eight lakh people and displaced thousands from their homes in Odisha, with rain disrupting electricity and water supply and damaging road infrastructure. The satellite images show the extent of the situation which has forced the state to evacuate 120,000 people from the affected areas.
The district-wise warning map from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) website shows that Deogarh, Sundergarh, Sambalpur and Jharsuguda regions of Odisha are on 'alert', while other parts were marked with ‘watch’ as of August 24.
According to the Central Water Commission (CWC) Jalka river was flowing above danger levels in Baleshwar district of Odisha. However, the trend was downwards.
