Sarpanch shot dead by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar

A sarpanch, who was shot dead by terrorists, was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries during the operation in Jammu and Kashmir.
A PDP sarpanch was shot dead by terrorists on the outskirts of Srinagar on Wednesday (March 9), Jammu and Kashmir police said.
IGP Kashmir said, "Terrorist fired upon the Sarpanch Sameer Ahmad Bhat at Khonmoh near his residence leaving him critically injured." He added that the sarpanch was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries during the operation. “The area is being searched to nab the attackers", he added.
Meanwhile, Jammu Kashmir police claimed that they have solved the Amira Kadal grenade attack which was carried out by terrorists on Sunday. In the attack, two persons lost their lives while 35 were injured.
DIG central Kashmir Sujit Kumar said, “Police have succeeded in solving the Amira Kadal grenade incident case by arresting two accused involved in the commission of terror act. Besides, the two wheeler used in the commission of crime has also been seized.”
DIG added, "During the course of investigation, using modern means of investigation including analysis of the CCTV footages besides examination of some eyewitnesses the investigation team was able to identify two accused who came on a two-wheeler without number-plate to commit this crime and fled on the same vehicle after committing the terrorist act. During the intense analysis of the CCTV trail in Srinagar City, the route adopted by both accused was located back to one neighbourhood in Khanyar area. The first accused namely Mohd Bariq son of Mohd Shafi Magray resident of Koolipora, Khanyar was arrested from Khanyar, Srinagar and his initial examination led to arrest to the second accused namely Fazil Nabi Sofi son of Ghulam Nabi Sofi resident of Koolipora, Khanyar. The two wheeler used in the commission of terror act has also been recovered and seized.”
