Speaking at the unveiling of a statue of Sardar Patel at Canada's Sanatan Mandir cultural centre, PM Modi said the statue will become a symbol of relation between both the nations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the statue of Sardar Patel at Canada's Sanatan Mandir cultural centre will strengthen not only the cultural values but will also become a symbol of India-Canada relations.
PM Modi said, "Sardar Vallabhbhai's statue at Sanatan Mandir will not only strengthen our cultural values but also become a symbol of relation between the two countries."
PM Modi stated that the statue is a replica of the Statue of Unity, which serves as an inspiration for India.
"After independence, Sardar Patel restored the Somnath temple to remind India of its thousands of years of heritage standing on a new footing," he said.
"An Indian may live anywhere in the world for generations but his Indianness and devotion to India don't decrease even a little. Whatever nation he resides in, he serves it honestly. Democratic values and sense of duty carried by his ancestors from India live in a corner of his heart," he said.
"It happens as India is a great tradition, ideological establishment, a stream of culture, besides being a country. It is a supreme thought that speaks of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. It doesn't dream of its upliftment at the cost of others' loss. It prays for the welfare of entire world," he added.
