Sanajan Sanghi, in an exclusive chat with Indiatoday.in, spoke about how women are getting to do action films. She said that Katrina Kaif is the torchbearer when it comes to action films.
Actress Sanjana Sanghi's performance in Rashtra Kavach Om has garnered the actress a lot of praise. Her action sequences were widely applauded by the audience. Fans loved her never-seen-before avatar. Recently, during an interaction with IndiaToday.in, the Dil Bechara actress was asked who is her role model when it comes to action films. The actress said that it is Katrina Kaif!
Speaking exclusively with IndiaToday.in, Sanjana, who attempted an action sequence for the first time in her career, revealed that action wasn't her favourite genre. She said that it was her brother and his friends who would force her to watch action films.
She told us, "I have an elder brother and a school boys gang. They would force me into watching action films when I was younger. It wasn't my favourite genre actually and I would see them ogle over Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lawrence, and Lara Croft. When I use to see those women, I would be like, how is this even possible? They look stunning, they kick ass, and they are so powerful."
When asked who she considers her role model when it comes to action films, she replied, "When I was building and working on Kavya's character I tried to see which women in Hindi cinema have done this before. Unfortunately, the reference points are fewer because very few women have done full-fledged action parts. But of course, Katrina Kaif has really been the torchbearer when it comes to action. So in our industry, it would be her."
Further talking about how the film industry is now churning out better roles and characters for female actors, Sanjana stated, "It is phenomenal. I really owe it, actually my whole generation of younger female actors. We owe it to actors like Vidya Balan, Tappsee Pannu, and Deepika Padukone for fighting the tough fights and for taking our writing up to a place where women are now full people and female stars are now bankable. I mean, in Dhak Dhak, we have no hero and it's a big-scale film and we're doing everything the way we want to do it. We're not making a small Indie film, and that's new-age Hindi Cinema. It has four women working together, studios are backing it, and we are in real locations."
