Sangli suicide case: 13 arrested for allegedly harassing family of nine found dead

The Sangli police have arrested 13 people, including moneylenders, in the case of suicide abetment after nine members of a family were found dead on Monday afternoon.
The Sangli police arrested 13 people after nine members of a family were found dead in Maharashtra's Sangli district on Monday.
The police initially booked 25 people for harassing the deceased and suicide abetment. Out of these, 13, including the moneylenders, were arrested.
The incident took place at two separate homes of the brothers in Mhaisal village. The police also recovered suicide notes from the home that revealed the names of the moneylenders.
“In the suicide notes, it was mentioned that they (the brothers) wanted the money for some business. This will be investigated later,” said Dikshit Gedam, Superintendent of Police, Sangli.
As per PTI, Gedam said, "Based on the names mentioned in the notes found at the spots, we have registered a case of abetment to suicide against 25 people."
The official also said that they suspect they consumed a poisonous substance.
The deceased have been identified as Popat Yallappa Vanmore (52), a doctor by profession, Sangeeta Popat Vanmore (48), Archana Popat Vanmore (30), Shubham Popat Vanmore (28), Manik Yallappa Vanmore (49), Rekha Manik Vanmore (45) and Aditya Manik Van (15), Anita Manik Vanmore (28) and Akkatai Vanmore (72).
