Samsung Galaxy S22 India launch tomorrow: Expected price, and more
India Today
The Samsung Galaxy S22 series will launch in India on February 17. The company has confirmed that it will host an event tomorrow, where it will unveil the India prices and offers of the latest flagships.
Samsung has announced that it will launch its latest flagship Galaxy S22 series in India on February 17, which is tomorrow. The company recently introduced three smartphones at this year’s Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event. These include a regular Galaxy S22, a Plus model and an Ultra variant with a stylus. Samsung didn’t reveal the India prices of the new Galaxy S22 series at the global event, so you can expect the same tomorrow.
The company will be hosting an event at 12:30PM, which one will be able to live stream via Samsung’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Consumers who pre-reserved the new Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S22+ or Galaxy S22 will be eligible for all pre-booking offers. These users will also get a free Galaxy SmartTag, which is worth Rs 2,699.
A recent report from MySmartPrice claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S22 series will come with a starting price of Rs 69,900 in India. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is said to cost Rs 1,09,900 in the country. The price of the Plus variant is still unknown.
To recall, the Samsung Galaxy S22 was launched last week with a starting price of $799 (around Rs 59,900), while the Galaxy S22+ carries a price tag of $999 (approximately Rs 75,000). The high-end Galaxy S22 Ultra is priced at $1,199 (approximately Rs 90,000) in the US.
Samsung has already confirmed that the Indian variants of the Galaxy S22 series will pack a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. The devices run on Android 12 with One UI 4.1 on top. The standard variant has a 6.1-inch full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, which is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+. The chassis is also protected by Armor Aluminium. The panel also has support for a 120Hz refresh rate that gets adjusted to 10Hz based on the phone’s content. The Samsung Galaxy S22+ has a similar display, but is 6.6-inches. The panel has support for Samsung's Eye Comfort Shield for blue light control.
Both the regular and the Plus models have a similar camera setup. At the back, there is a triple rear camera setup, including a 50-megapixel primary Dual Pixel wide-angle sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and autofocus. It is paired with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera, featuring 3x optical zoom. It has support for Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) too. For selfies and video calls, there is a 10-megapixel selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture and an 80-degree field-of-view.
The disappointing part is that the Samsung Galaxy S22 has a compact 3,700mAh battery. While brands these days are offering more than 4,000mAh battery, Samsung has decided to offer a small unit. It has support for 25W fast charging, 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. Thankfully, the Samsung Galaxy S22+ packs a bigger 4,500mAh battery under the hood. It comes with support for 45W fast charging.
