Notably, Vaughan and Butt's war of words had started when the former Pakistan opener had slammed the ex-English captain for stirring up an unnecessary controversy by drawing comparisons between Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson. Responding to Butt, Vaughan brought up his infamous involvement in the spot-fixing scandal, which took place during Salman Butt-led Pakistan's 2010 tour of England. Butt was banned from cricket for 10 years for the spot-fixing scandal in 2010.
