Sajan Prakash dedicates Arjuna Award to Indian swimming community, aiming for 2026 Asian Games after Tokyo Olympics.
Ace swimmer Sajan Prakash has dedicated his Arjuna Award to the Indian swimming community.
The 31-year-old two-time Olympian, who became the first swimmer in 12 years to win the Arjuna Award, felt swimming wasn’t given the due recognition despite it being one of the toughest sports to master.
Sajan, who was the first Indian to achieve the A standard qualification for the Tokyo Olympic Games, also expressed gratitude to his coaches and family.
“The Arjuna Award is not just a recognition for me but also for the entire swimming community. It is one of the toughest sports but for long it has not got its due in this country. This award is certainly the high point of my career and will motivate me to work harder to achieve my future goals,’‘ said the national record holder in 200m butterfly.
Sajan is now training at the JSW institute in Belagavi and has his sights set on competing at the 2026 Asian Games.
“I am still fit and training hard and ready for the final push for the 2026 Asian Games,’‘ he said.
