The Sainik School Society has sought more proactive participation from certain states and UTs for setting up new schools.
The Sainik School Society is in the process of granting approval to schools that are interested in functioning under its aegis to accommodate the Government of India's scheme of opening 100 new Sainik Schools.
The scheme to open 100 new Sainik Schools aims to provide the pattern of education in Sainik Schools to a larger cross-section of aspiring students nationwide.
This scheme will allow students across the country to progress in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) while still following the Sainik School curriculum, read an official release.
This decision is aligned with the central government's decision to give increased focus to value-based education, thereby enabling children to develop pride in the rich culture and heritage of the nation, effective leadership with character, discipline, sense of national duty and patriotism, the release read further.
A total of 100 affiliate partners are proposed to be drawn from states/NGOs/private partners.
Whereas, a significant number of schools, amounting to approximately 230 schools, from several states have already registered.
However, the participation from the states of Goa, Manipur, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Tripura, West Bengal, New Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar, Chandigarh, Lakshadweep, Puducherry, Ladakh & Jammu and Kashmir is still lukewarm.
