Mumbai police search for suspect in Saif Ali Khan attack, forming 40 teams and questioning individuals with criminal records.
Over 48 hours have passed but the accused involved in the knife attack on Hindi cinema actor Saif Ali Khan still remains at large.
Mumbai police said that over 15 individuals were questioned overnight but there has been no trace of the accused yet. Fingerprints recovered by the forensic team from the actor’s residence have not matched any person who has been questioned so far from police records.
Considering the gravity of the case, the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police have formed 40 teams and are actively searching for the accused who, as per the CCTV footage, entered Satguru Sharan at 1.37 a.m. and left at 2.33 a.m. on Thursday.
He was later spotted near Link Road. Police have been questioning people with a history of any sort of criminal record to find the suspect. Any person who is seen loitering at night around the area is also questioned.
Residents of Bhandup and Mulund reported on Saturday that the suspect has been spotted in several residential societies stealing footwear. His pattern suggests that he typically enters the societies after 8 p.m.
One of the residents said that he was caught thrice in their society. In one such incident, the suspect entered the society claiming to be a caterer and took refuge in an empty flat. Later that night, the security guard caught him, but he was released after being mistaken for a legitimate caterer.
