In an exclusive interview to IndiaToday.in, Sai Pallavi opened up about the success of Shyam Singha Roy. She also talked about the viral Pranavalaya song and the OTT boom.
Sai Pallavi and Natural Star Nani's recently released film Shyam Singha Roy is a huge hit. After its successful theatrical run, the makers released it on Netflix on January 21. Nani and Sai Pallavi's performances are appreciated by one and all. Especially, Sai Pallavi, who appeared in the role of Maitreyi aka Rosie, a devadasi woman from Bangladesh. Speaking to IndiaToday.in exclusively, Sai Pallavi opened up about the success of the film, the OTT boom, and much more.
Set in West Bengal of the 70s and present-day Hyderabad, the film is based on the theme of reincarnation. When asked Pallavi about what was challenging in playing the role of Rosie, she said, "There wasn't any. But, I just felt that there was so much that these characters were going through in the film. There were a lot of emotions that were exploding inside my heart, but maybe we had very little time to express it or less screen time to express it. That was the only frustration I had, other than that everything else was easy."
Speaking about the success of the film, she said, "It rarely happens that I have two releases in a year. I think my audience and fans are very happy about that and I am glad that they have liked the film."
The actress is not only known for her terrific acting, but also for her impeccable dancing skills. Remember Dhanush's 'Rowdy Baby'? Now, she has yet again mesmerised everyone and grabbed a lot of attention for her dance performance in the song, Pranavalaya. Pallavi revealed that her mom is her inspiration when it comes to dancing. "As a kid, I took part in a lot of interschool competitions - there were times when I won and there have been times when I lost. At that point, I remember my mum telling me, 'when you enjoy dancing, it shows on your face, Pallavi, and those are the times I have seen you win.' And so during those days, I would force and tell myself that I am enjoying and over time, it became a way of life. So, only when I enjoy it can you get the best out of me, be it dance or acting. If I enjoy the process, it comes out well. The one word that mum said was my inspiration."
Sai Pallavi also confessed she is open to doing films and web series on OTT. "We are always open to content in any medium. I personally believe that directors have more freedom when it comes to OTT - it's a space where they are able to write and do not have a lot of restrictions compared to a theatrical release. So, when you get an offer where you can explore a side of you that you can not explore in a feature film that will release in theatres, we would always want to explore that side," she concluded.
