The winners of 27th Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced on March 4. The Trial of the Chicago 7, Schitt's Creek and The Crown lead the list of winners.
The 27th Screen Actors Guild Awards, honoured the best of performances in film and television for the year gone by on Sunday, March 4. The ceremony this year was a virtual affair due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. The winners were announced via an hour-long pre-taped telecast. The Trial of the Chicago 7 won the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Chadwick Boseman was posthumously honoured with the Best Actor Award in a Motion Picture for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, while Viola Davis won Best Actress in a Motion Picture for the film. In the supporting actor category, Yuh-Jung Youn took home the trophy for Minari and Daniel Kaluuya for his role as Fred Hampton in Judas and the Black Messiah. As for television, Netflix’s The Crown won the Drama Ensemble award for the second consecutive year. The historical drama’s Gillian Anderson won Best Actress in Drama Series for her performance as Margaret Thatcher. Schitt’s Creek, which swept the Emmys, bagged the Comedy Ensemble trophy. Meanwhile, Catherine O’Hara won the Female Lead Actor Award in a Comedy for the sitcom.More Related News
