Shiromani Akali Dal's Sukhbir Singh Badal has accused Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of sacrilege. The AAP has hit back, calling him a spent cartridge.
Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal has kicked off a controversy by accusing Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of sacrilege, alleging that Mann was drunk when he entered a shrine. The AAP has hit back saying that the Akali Dal was unable to accept the defeat and was trying to defame Mann.
"He is the chief minister of our Punjab. I do not want to say this but I am hurt. Nothing is more shameful than the Punjab Chief minister coming to the Damdama Sahib (shrine) in an inebriated state," Sukhbir Badal said, adding that this was not the time when Bhagwant Mann violated the ethics of Sikhism.
Another Akali Dal leader, Virsa Singh Valtoha, has appealed to the highest Sikh Temporal authority, Akal Takht, to take action against Bhagwant Mann. The Congress has also criticized Bhagwant Mann for the same.
The ruling Aam Adami party has refuted the allegations levelled by the Shiromani Akali Dal, saying Sukhbir Badal was indulging in mud-slinging after the Akali Dal was rejected by the people.
"They are the spent cartridges of Punjab politics which have expired now. They are not being able to digest the defeat and are trying to defame Bhagwant Mann," AAP's national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha said.
