Facing bitter criticism from the West on Ukraine, the Russian embassy in India today welcomed India's "balanced, principled and independent approach" at the United Nations Security Council Briefing on the implementation of the Minsk Agreements on Ukraine. India has said that "quiet and constructive" diplomacy is the need of the hour and any steps that increase tension "may best be avoided by all sides" in the larger interest of securing international peace and security.
