India Today
Parents in Agra are worried about the security of their children studying in different universities across Ukraine. The anxious parents are praying for the safety of their children and have appealed to the government for help.
With tensions rising between Russia and Ukraine after the former declared war, more than half a dozen families in Uttar Pradesh's Agra are in distress. Currently, about half a dozen MBBS students from Agra are stranded in Ukraine after the war broke out.
The parents of these students are worried about the safety of their children and have appealed to the government to safely bring them back. Parents are constantly keeping in touch with their children who are studying in different medical universities in Ukraine.
Rajat Singh, a student of Agra's Awadhpuri Colony, had gone to Ukraine five years back to get an MBBS degree. As soon as Rajat's mother heard the news of Russia's attack on Ukraine and the closure of the India-Ukraine air service, tears swelled up in her eyes.
Rajat's mother Meena told India Today that she has requested the government of India to bring her son back to his homeland safely. Rajat's father, Dr. Gulab Singh said that Rajat has been studying in Ukraine for the past five years and aims to become a doctor.
"But as soon as we have heard about the war between Ukraine and Russia, we are worried about his well-being," his father added.
He said he spoke to his son just once through video call and it is clear that Rajat was also worried there.
Concerned about Rajat's safety, Dr. Gulab Singh said, "Rajat informed us that this morning, the city was shaken by two blasts and since then the situation is only getting worse. It is difficult to come back since the flights are closed."
