Jamia Millia Islamja has organised a web talk on “Russia-Ukraine crisis and its impact on Indian Economy” by Prof. Arun Kumar.
Department of Economics, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) organised a webinar on April 05, 2022 on “Russia-Ukraine crisis and its impact on Indian Economy” by Prof. Arun Kumar, Malcom Adiseshiah Chair Professor, at the Institute of Social Sciences, New Delhi & Former Professor at CESP, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
Prof. Arun Kumar introduced the topic with the historical narratives of the nations and analysed the economic impacts of the present conflict with special reference to the short term, medium term and long term of economic engagements.
He also discussed the economic impacts at this time on Russia, other nations and with particular reference to India.
He urged immediate possible solutions to stop the war because the human cost of war is very high.
Since the world is more globalized today, the impacts are likely to have more ripples than that of previous editions of world wars.
Since Russia is a comparatively larger economy and is a leading supplier of oil, gas, coal and other critical elements, the immediate sanctions imposed by world nations may be difficult for them without finding a substitute.
