Russia says it fired hypersonic missiles at Ukraine, second time in two days

Russia on Sunday claimed to have again struck Ukraine with hypersonic missiles, for the second time since Friday.
Russia is reported to have struck Ukraine with hypersonic missiles on Sunday for the second time since Friday. As per a report by Interfax, Russia struck Ukraine with cruise missiles from ships in the Black Sea and Caspian Sea.
On Friday, Russia used the Kinzhal hypersonic missiles for the first time in its war against Ukraine. The Russian defence ministry said it was to destroy a weapons storage site.
"The Kinzhal aviation missile system with hypersonic aeroballistic missiles destroyed a large underground warehouse containing missiles and aviation ammunition in the village of Deliatyn in the Ivano-Frankivsk region", the Russian defence ministry said Saturday, as per AFP.

It was the first purported use of the Kinzhal hypersonic weapon. Russia has never before admitted to using the high-precision weapon in combat, state news agency RIA Novosti said.
Hypersonic missiles can travel at more than five times the speed of sound. According to Russian officials, the Kinzhal hypersonic missile can hit a target up to 2,000km (1,240 miles) away and can fly faster than 6,000 km/h.
The Russia-Ukraine war entered its fourth week on March 20, with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy calling on Moscow to commit to meaningful bilateral talks and stop its invasion of Ukraine.
