Russia-Ukraine war news update: Dismissing reports that China knew about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Chinese envoy in the US said that crisis is not good for his country and had it know about the war beforehand, it would have made efforts to prevent the all-out conflict.
Chinese Ambassador to the US Qin Gang said Russia’s war against Ukraine is not good for China. Dismissing claims that China had knowledge about Russia’s invasion, Gang asserted that had China known about the devastation, it would have made efforts to prevent it.

“Russia's war against Ukraine is not good for China. If China had known of the inevitable crisis, we would have done everything possible to prevent it," Qin Gang said.
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan on March 15, warned China against helping Russia evade punishment from global sanctions that have hammered the Russian economy. It also asked China not to provide military aid to Moscow in its war on Ukraine.
The US's warning came after Western media reports suggested that Russia had asked China for military equipment to be used against Ukraine.

China, however, refuted the reports. “The United States has been spreading false information against China on the Ukraine issue recently with sinister intentions,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said. “China’s position on the Ukraine issue is consistent and clear, and we have always played a constructive role in persuading peace and promoting talks,” he said.
