Ajay Devgn's film Runway 34 has tanked at the box office. It also suffered massive loss because of Yash's KGF: Chapter 2 wave.
Runway 34 is facing tough competition from Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2 which is now in its fourth week, yet is showing no signs of slowing down even in the Hindi belt. Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh's Runway 34 released on April 29. While the aviation thriller opened to a lukewarm response at the box office, it improved gradually. However, on Day 7, the collections dropped even further. Runway 34 managed to collect just Rs 24 crore.
Ajay Devgn's third directorial, Runway 34 enjoys an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh, Boman Irani and Carry Minati. The film received mixed reviews by critics and the audience. While the film didn't open to good numbers at the box office, it eventually picked pace due to good word of mouth. However, that still wasn't enough for it to grab good numbers at the box office.
Reportedly, Runway 34 minted Rs 1.70 crore on Day. Hence, the total collection now stands at Rs 24.36 crore. The film was severely affected by Yash's KGF: Chapter 2, which also released around the same time. And now, it's on the verge of been replaced by Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness. Meanwhile, Runway 34 had an overall 11.09 per cent Hindi occupancy on Thursday, May 5.
Runway 34 is a gripping film, inspired by the true story behind the Jet Airways Doha to Kochi flight, 9W 555. Due to bad weather and low visibility, the pilot, in this case, Vikrant, had the impossible choice of attempting a landing that could go either way. The film stars Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Rakul Preet Singh, Angira Dhar and Aakanksha Singh. It released in the theatres on April 29.
