Ajay Devgn's Runway 34 released on April 29. While the aviation thriller opened to a lukewarm response at the box office, it improved on its second day. Runway 34 saw a jump in its box office collections on Saturday, April 30, by 55 to 60 per cent. Reportedly, the film has collected in the range of Rs 4.75 to Rs 5.25 crore on its second day. Hence, the total collections now stand at Rs 8 crore.
Ajay Devgn's third directorial, Runway 34 enjoys an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh, Boman Irani and Carry Minati. The film unfortunately opened with low-scoring figures. However, on Day 2, it picked up pace. Due to positive word of mouth, several people flocked to the theaters to watch the film. Runway 34 is among the rare films to go up by 50 per cent or more on day two. This gives some hope of another jump on Sunday, May 1. The film needs to earn at least Rs 6.50 crore to Rs 6.75 crore on Sunday to give itself a shot of touching the Rs 40-crore mark in its lifetime run.
Runway 34 is a gripping film, inspired by the true story behind the Jet Airways Doha to Kochi flight, 9W 555. Due to bad weather and low visibility, the pilot, in this case, Vikrant, had the impossible choice of attempting a landing that could go either way. The film stars Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Rakul Preet Singh, Angira Dhar and Aakanksha Singh. It released in the theatres on April 29.
