BJP Tamil Nadu president accuses ruling DMK of relying on illegal mineral theft gangs for 2026 Assembly election.
BJP Tamil Nadu president K. Annamalai on Friday alleged that the ruling DMK was relying on “illegal mineral theft gangs” to face the 2026 Assembly election.
In a statement, he alleged that illegal mineral mining and theft had become common in Tamil Nadu after the DMK came to power. “Two gangs operating from Pudukkottai and Karur have been involved in illegal mineral mining and smuggling to Kerala. The murder of anti-stone quarrying activist K. Jagaber Ali in Pudukkottai district indicates that the ruling DMK is running a ‘disaster model’ government. By anticipating defeat, the DMK has decided to use money power by relying on illegal mineral theft gangs. It also threatens members of the public and activists who raise their voice against illegal mining,” he said.
